Aims

General objectives

1. To produce professionals who can work in basic education, performing educational roles especially for children aged 0 to 12, mainly in non-school contexts (educational services, after-school care, toy libraries, etc.) and in school settings (supporting and assisting in curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities).
2. To prepare graduates who meet the requirements to continue studies at the second cycle level (master’s degree), through which they can pursue teaching roles in the context of pre-school education and basic education (primary and lower middle school).

Specific objectives:

To prepare professionals who:

1. a) Understand the intricacies of educational processes in general and specifically the processes of teaching and learning, while possessing a comprehensive and holistic view of Basic Education across its various dimensions (organisational, curricular, social, etc.).
2. b) Understand the developmental journey of children aged 0 to 12, along with their life contexts, learning environments and socialisation processes.
3. c) Demonstrate expertise in the scientific domains of teaching and its methodologies, along with a deep understanding of the wider field of education, essential for effective roles in basic education and for advancing to the second study cycle.
4. d) Showcase the ability to develop educational activities tailored for children aged 0 to 12, respecting their individual needs and cultural differences.
5. e) Have the ability to observe, interpret, assess and reflect on the diverse educational settings that encompass early childhood and basic education.
6. f) Have an entrepreneurial spirit and are adept at fostering and building socio-educational projects, developing their work in the knowledge-based society.
7. g) Guide their actions based on the ethical and professional principles inherent to educational practice.
