Attendance in Isolated Curricular Units

IPVC provides students enrolled in a higher education program, as well as other interested parties, with the opportunity to register for individual curricular units (CUs) from its current offerings, as provided by article 46-A of Decree-law No. 74/2006 of March 24, amended by Decree-law No. 115/2013 of August 7, by Decree-law No. 63/2016 of September 13, and by Decree-law No. 65/2018 of August 16.

The curricular units in which the student obtains approval are credited, given the limitations provided by law, if they are currently or will become a student of a higher education cycle of studies.

In Isolated Curricular Units (isolated CUs), certification of the successfully completed units, according to the registration system, is limited to 50% of the total credits for the cycle of studies the student plans to initiate.

Isolated curricular units do not apply to the curricular units that a student must enroll in to complete a 1st or 2nd cycle program, regardless of the number of credits they lack for completion, whether they are a full-time or part-time student, based on the regime in which they were enrolled in the previous school year.

One may enroll in isolated CUs in the following ways:

1. Enrollment subject to evaluation. If the student passes, these CUs are:

– Subject to certification

– Credited by the legal requirements in effect, if the student is currently or will become a student in a higher education cycle of studies, up to the limit of 50% of the total credit of the cycle of studies

– Included in the diploma supplement to be issued.

1. Enrollment without evaluation or when the student does not pass:

In these situations, a certificate will be issued to the student that attests their attendance in the curricular unit, provided that they had a proven attendance of at least 80% of the classes effectively given.

Students may enroll in isolated CUs in the school’s academic services by filling out the form provided below.

The applicable fees for each ECTS credit for enrollment and attendance in isolated CUs are as follows:

1 – For IPVC students:

1. a) Without evaluation, 1.5% of the tuition amount set for the respective cycle
2. b) With evaluation, 2% of the tuition amount set for the respective cycle

2 – For other interested parties who are not IPVC students:

2. a) Without evaluation, 2.5% of the tuition amount set for the respective cycle
3. b) With evaluation, 3% of the tuition amount set for the respective cycle
