Tuition and Fees
Attendance in cycles of study conferring a degree or diploma is subject to the payment of tuition, whose amount is set annually. This amount may vary depending on the student’s nationality and the nature of the program they shall attend.
The tuition amounts for the 2020-2021 academic year can be found in the file “General Regulation for Tuition and Prescription of the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo.”
The payment methods are set forth in article 4 of the IPVC General Regulation for Tuition and Prescription, amended by Order No. 4470/2104.
Most of the academic acts that are subject to the payment of fees are listed in the fees table found below.
Refer to the Notice that provides the tuition amount for Professional and Technical programs (CTeSP) for National and International students and for students from the Community of Portuguese Language Countries and Latin America.
Refer to the Notice that provides the tuition amount for the Licentiate Degree programs for National and International students and for students from the Community of Portuguese Language Countries and Latin America.
Refer to the Notice that provides the tuition amount for the Master’s Degree programs for National and International students and for students from the Community of Portuguese Language Countries and Latin America.
Students enrolled in the schools that integrate IPVC are required by law to pay tuition.
Tuition is due in full in exchange for the enrollment/registration in a specific academic year of the 1st and 2nd cycles, as well as in the Professional and Technical programs, regardless of the number of curricular units in which the student is enrolled, with the exception of the special requirements set forth for part-time students.
A phased tuition payment plan over a greater number of installments than those stipulated may be authorized as long as payment does not extend past July 31st of the academic year in question. For this purpose, you should consult your school’s One-stop Source for information on the procedure.
Students who apply for a scholarship may postpone the tuition payment deadline provided that upon enrollment they present a document issued by Social Action Services (SAS) which proves they have applied.
Once the results of the scholarship applications are posted, the students who postponed the tuition payment deadline because they had applied for a scholarship have 10 days as of the day after the results have been posted to make their payment.
Tuition is paid through the following method:
SIBS/ATM – through the payment reference available in the IPVC student’s personal area, taking into account the amount and deadlines set forth in the IPVC General Regulation for Tuition and Prescription
Upon registration/enrollment, you are required to pay for student insurance, the registration/enrollment fee, and the 1st tuition installment. If you do not have the financial resources to pay the 1st tuition installment and have applied for a scholarship, you may postpone payment of this installment until the scholarship results are posted.
The amount of tuition for part-time students is set by the IPVC General Council.
Failure to pay all or part of the tuition amount by July 31 of the academic year in question shall result in the expiration of all the installments set for the academic year in question, the nullity of all curricular acts, and consequently the immediate suspension of registration/enrollment, under the terms of the IPVC General Regulation for Tuition and Prescription in the academic year relative to the non-compliance with obligations.
The non-payment of an installment within the set deadline shall result in the suspension of registration and enrollment without prior notification, in addition to the default interest set forth in article 7, paragraph 3 of the IPVC General Regulation for Tuition and Prescription. The student is not permitted to attend classes, participate in evaluations, or use the services provided by Social Action Services. They also lose the right to access social support until all debts are settled, plus the respective default interest, as prescribed in subitem b) of article 29 of Law no. 37/2003 of August 22, amended by Law No. 49/2005 of August 30.
Students who owe one or more tuition payments relative to previous years must make the payment in full upon registration/enrollment. Exceptionally, the student may present a phased payment plan of the amount owed and await approval by the IPVC Administrative Council so that they may proceed with re-enrollment.
Most of the academic acts that are subject to the payment of fees are listed in the IPVC Fees Table published by Order No. 9585/2020 of October 2.
Regarding the fee submitted for Review, claim, appeal, the amount will be refunded if the student obtains a higher grade than before or a more favorable decision, provided they make the request within 15 calendar days of the publication of the result.
Scholarship recipients receive a 50% discount on the fees provided in the fees table, with the exception of the penalty set forth in No. 9.
