The Master’s Degree in Nature Sports comes in response to the increasing demand for quality certified training in the area of nature activities.
This area is currently one of the training priorities for postgraduates in Sports Science, not only because it is an excellent alternative in terms of employability, but mainly due to the need for updating and specialisation.
With a special connection to the world of work, this course is aimed at filling the knowledge gaps felt by professionals and recent graduates, providing highly demanding and up-to-date technical, scientific and professional training.
The aim of this course is to innovate in the field of specialised training in sports science, closely linked to professional performance.
This innovation is mainly characterised by a specialised offering in Nature Sports, with a strong emphasis on practical know-how combined with the deepening of scientific, technical, professional, and methodological knowledge. This is complemented by a very strong connection to the actors in the professional world.
This training course is aimed particularly at holders of a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports or Physical Education and professionals already working in the area of Tourist Entertainment or similar areas. Candidates from a multitude of other areas that show an associated connection and/or interest (from tourism to social science) are also welcome.
We are confident that this combination of highly distinctive knowledge and skills will make it possible to attain high-level professional certification and recognition from employers.

Access
The following may apply for the Master’s Degree in Nature Sports:
a) Holders of a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, Tourism or similar areas.
b) Holders of qualifications from foreign higher education institutions in Sports Science, Physical Education, Tourism or similar areas, dependent on a curricular assessment by the Scientific Committee.
c) Holders of academic, scientific or professional qualifications that are recognised as attesting to their ability to take on this study cycle by the scientific body officially authorised by the higher education establishment.
The selection of candidates by the Scientific and Technical Committee will take the following general criteria into account:
a) The candidate’s academic and scientific background.
b) The candidate’s professional background in sports science or similar areas, with particular relevance being given to proven professional experience in the area of nature sports.

Projects
– Safety Plan for the Network of Walking and Cycling Paths in Melgaço Municipality.
The aim of this project is the development and approval of observation tools, gathering information on the main dangers detected on the ground, keeping a written reference and corresponding georeferencing, processing the data collected and preliminary preparation of the study, handing in a preliminary document, observing the hazards on the ground and making suggestions for improvements.
After this analysis, we will prepare and hand in the Final Project Report, with an introductory note, identification of the hazards, risk analysis and assessment, emergency plan, risk prevention plan and main conclusions.
