Presentation
The Specialisation Course in School Administration and Educational Innovation is aimed at qualifying students to work in pedagogical and administrative direction and management in educational institutions, particularly in the technical (pedagogical), design (operational management), human relations and external management areas (Santos, 2009)1.
The development of the syllabus involves different areas of school management and administration, in a national and international context of improving schools, where innovation plays a core role and where the School Improvement movement is highlighted.
This perspective of educational improvements raises student learning to a higher dimension, one that includes classroom teaching, the school as a whole, organisational learning and leadership practices, as well as the macro context of educational policies. Therefore, the set of course units on the course syllabus is aimed at contributing to leadership training for comprehensive educational success, based on Joint Order No. 198/99, of 15 February, which identifies the specific skills for this specialised training area.
