Início / Study / (Português) CTeSP / Turismo de Gastronomia e Vinhos
Presentation
The diversity of the country’s wine regions, their landscapes and territorial characteristics, the diversity and quality of Portuguese wines, winners of international awards, traditional cuisine, the high quality of ingredients and award-winning chefs have led wine producers to diversify their economic activities, recognising the potential of gastronomic tourism and wine tourism.
In this type of tourism, tourists travel to explore and enjoy the gastronomy and wines characteristic of the destinations, thus seeking to experience the local culture. There has been a huge increase in this type of tourism in the last decade, which highlights the growing demand on the one hand and reinforces the need to better understand supply and demand on the other.
Given the growing recognition of the importance of gastronomy and wine to the region, particularly with the huge increase in demand for wine from the Vinho Verde region and the prizes awarded to regional gastronomy, various players in the public and private sectors, including representatives of tourism companies, wine producing farms and local councils, collaborated with the IPVC to create this CTeSP in Gastronomy Tourism and Wine.
The aim is for trainees to obtain the skills to: understand the process of producing and marketing wine; develop and implement diversified and innovative proposals in the field of gastronomy and wine in a sustainable way, based on cultural values with tourist appeal; identify and understand the values with tourist activity; communicate with the various audiences (customers, colleagues, producers, suppliers, and other partners); contextualise the gastronomic and wine heritage associated with rural and natural spaces, promote innovation through personalised services in wine tourism ventures; and, know the trends in demand for cultural tourism, touring and enogastronomy.
Note:
Classes will take place mainly (but not exclusively) in the Vinho Verde sub-region of Monção and Melgaço. The theoretical and theoretical-practical classes will be held at EPRAMI’s facilities in Monção, and the practical classes will be held on farms and in the wider territory of Monção and Melgaço. Classes for which the necessary facilities and equipment are not available may take place at one of the IPVC’s schools (Ponte de Lima and Viana do Castelo, mainly).
