The course offers a holistic, strategic and operational perspective on Marketing and Communication Management.
Marketing is essential for developing sustainable solutions and creating real value with and for all stakeholders: customers, employees, suppliers, investors and the community in general.
Business communication is necessary to develop and maintain relationships with all these interest groups.
This is a modern course that endeavours to respond to today’s main challenges and trends: accelerated technological change, new paradigms of communication and interaction, entrepreneurship, ethics, social responsibility and sustainability.

The aim is to provide multidisciplinary professional training. The main aim is for graduates to:
Graduate profile
Graduates in Marketing and Communication Management will be prepared to develop their professional careers both nationally and internationally in the traditional sectors of industry, retail, consultancy or advertising and also in the emerging sectors of services and non-profit organisations. They will be potential middle and senior managers and directors, taking on responsibilities in the areas of marketing, management and development of new products, brands, clients, communication, advertising, public relations, direct marketing, sales, merchandising and marketing research.

The course is involved in two pedagogical projects: Integrated Project and Poliempreende.
With regard to the Integrated Project – Leaders for the Future this project is an integral and compulsory part of the training given in some course units (CUs) of the Marketing and Business Communication degree whose main pedagogical aims are:
With this project, students will also develop work methodologies similar to those used in the workplace and, if the project is successful, they will be able to help promote and enhance Alto Minho and the region’s economic development.
Poliempreende is an activity within the network of higher education institutions (Polytechnic Institutes, non-integrated higher education schools and the polytechnic schools at universities). Its aim, through an ideas and business plans competition, is to assess and give awards to projects developed and presented by students, graduates or teachers of these institutions, or other people, as long as they are part of teams made up of students and/or graduates. The goal is to foster an entrepreneurial culture and boost the development of skills by students, stimulating entrepreneurship and providing professional opportunities through the creation of their own companies.
In recent years, students from the Marketing and Business Communication course have been a regular presence and have even won awards.
