Presentation
Graduates of this programme support socio-community intervention, aimed at human development and successful ageing. This is achieved through the identification of vulnerability/risk conditions in individuals, families/groups and communities, social mediation and working together on activities/programmes to optimise development and ageing.
Exemption from national exams for entry into higher education and leading to a Higher Professional Technical Diploma.
Guaranteed internship in a real work environment (1 semester).
High employability courses.
Opportunity to continue your studies to Bachelor’s degrees (with credit transfers/equivalencies).

Who can apply:
- Candidates with a secondary education qualification or a legally equivalent qualification
- Holders of a Technological Specialisation Diploma or a Higher Professional Technical Diploma
- Holders of a higher education degree who wish to seek professional requalification
Candidates over the age of 23 who have passed the exams designed to assess their capacity for higher education attendance can also apply.
National Applicants or equivalent
International applicants (applicants who do not hold Portuguese citizenship, are not citizens of a EU member state and are not family members of Portuguese or citizens of a EU member state, have not lived in Portugal continuously for more than two years as of 1 January of the application year, are not beneficiaries of equal rights and duties status granted under an international treaty as of 1 January of the application year and who are not applying for higher education admission through special admissions and special entry routes).
All foreign applicants must request the equivalence of their secondary education qualifications from their home country from a Portuguese secondary school. The equivalence of your certificate to Portuguese secondary education is a mandatory requirement for the application.
Goals
Aims
- To identify, register and classify situations of vulnerability and/or individual, family and community risk that hinder successful development and ageing.
- To direct individuals, families/groups and communities in situations of vulnerability and/or individual risk, coordinating with formal and informal social networks in the community.
- To mediate the relationship between individuals/families in situations of vulnerability or risk and the networks and/or community organisations to allocate community resources.
- To manage the conditions of vulnerability and/or risk to be addressed with the individual/families, aiming at successful ageing.
- To develop intervention strategies centred on individuals, families/groups and communities in order to promote successful ageing.
- To implement action strategies focused on optimising the development and ageing of individuals, families/groups and communities, respecting ethical and professional principles.
- To coordinate initiatives and activities to enhance development and ageing, drawing on a diverse range of professional expertise.
- To allocate human, material and financial resources to ensure the prosperous development and ageing of individuals and their communities.
Graduate profile
Graduates of the Higher Professional Technical Course in Socio-Community Intervention and Ageing are qualified to assist, under supervision, in community interventions that benefit individuals, families and communities. This is aimed at human development and successful ageing, especially through the identification of conditions of vulnerability and/or individual, family and/or community risk, social mediation and cooperation in activities, projects or programmes to optimise development and ageing.
