Access conditions
Holders of a secondary education course or legally equivalent qualification;
Holders of a technological specialisation diploma or professional higher technician diploma
Holders of a higher education degree who wish to retrain.
Those over 23 who have passed the tests designed to assess their ability to attend higher education can also apply.
Special access contest
National applicants or equivalent;
International applicants (applicants who do not hold Portuguese citizenship, are not citizens of an EU member state and are not family members of Portuguese nationals or citizens of an EU member state, have not lived in Portugal continuously for more than two years as of 1 January of the application year, are not beneficiaries of equal rights and duties status granted under an international treaty as of 1 January of the application year and who are not applying for higher education admission through special admissions and special entry routes).
All foreign applicants will have to request the equivalence of their secondary education qualifications from their country of origin from a Portuguese secondary school. The equivalence of your certificate to Portuguese secondary education is a mandatory condition for applying. Goals
The main objective of this course is to train professionals who are able to collaborate and develop activities related to the design and development of means of production, analysis and interpretation appropriate to the execution of a piece, namely to:
- Propose technical manufacturing solutions according to the technical capacities available;
- Use automatic manufacturing technologies and create 3D models using specific software for industrial machining;
- Prepare materials and operate tools and measuring instruments for final control;
- Draw up a manufacturing programme and monitor its execution, in accordance with the production objectives set, using automatic machining;
- Developing technical-commercial activities in the areas of machine tools used in additive and subtractive machining;
- Ensure the maintenance of the machines and tools used, taking into account the preservation of the environment, safety, hygiene and prevention at work;
- Use the skills acquired to enhance the role of direct digital manufacturing processes in creating value, duly inserted in a circular economy.

Continuing Studies
Access and entry to higher education for holders of a Higher Professional Technical Course (CTeSP) is regulated by Decree-Law 113/2014.
Holders of the CTeSP in 3D Printing and Automatic Machining can enter the following degrees at ESTG by applying to the Special Competitions for Access to Higher Education:
- Mechatronics Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Computer Engineering
Admission will be subject to selection, in accordance with the applicable legislation, and to the number of places stipulated for the course to which you are applying.
