Goals
Aims
The Bachelor’s Degree Course in Mechatronic Engineering is multidisciplinary in nature, incorporating areas such as computer science, electronics, mechanics, automation and control.
The aim of this degree is to equip professionals with a wide-ranging profile so that they possess solid skills in the areas of industrial computing, electronics, mechanics, automation and control. This will enable them to integrate theoretical and practical knowledge, which is essential for working in industrial design, production and maintenance.
Nowadays, industrial processes are more complex and combine various skills, one example of which is the Industry 4.0 concept in industry.
Against this background, the development of diversified skills provides more well-rounded training and enables better professional performance, particularly in the component (automotive and aeronautics), agrifood and paper production industries, etc.
Graduate profile
Mechatronics graduates have the skills to work with automated systems in industry. This area involves mechanical, electronic, automation, control and IT skills. In computer science, skills are developed in information technology applications, programmable machine control systems and technologies that enable communication between machines, equipment and people.
These engineers will be able to respond satisfactorily to a variety of industry needs. They can design, build and maintain automatic equipment and work in process control.
They can carry out mechanical maintenance and work in numerical control of machine tools.
They also have the scientific skills to collect information from equipment, components (sensors) and regulating units and thereby respond to technological developments in the industry and its industrial communication networks.
Professional outcomes
Graduates with this bachelor’s degree have a broad spectrum of training, including skills in a wide range of industries. Some of the areas that graduates of this course could be involved in include:
