The study cycle leading to the Master’s Degree in Veterinary Nursing in Small Animalss arose from the adoption of the new training model and the development of a professional profile by the employment market. It expresses the innovation and the educational development achieved not only through academic training of the teaching staff involved in this master’s proposal at doctorate level, but also due to the multidisciplinary nature of their training, their experience in postgraduate training activities and scientific research and their experience in taking part in projects carried out in association with companies and other public and private healthcare and social entities/institutions.
The institutions involved in this master’s degree course have, at the same time and in different areas, provided the community with technology transfer, training and consultancy services, as well as taking part in national and international research and development projects. The clear increase in master’s degree courses in these institutions is proof of this and the bachelor’s degree courses in Veterinary Nursing can be no exception. Apart from the master’s degree courses specialising in more sought-after areas, there are also postgraduate courses that are shorter in duration and with a higher degree of specialisation. The professional profile and new areas of activity that have emerged from the development of Animal Health and concerns with their welfare justify and complement this proactive attitude towards new knowledge and new training in Veterinary Science.
