Their expertise also extends to technological areas that support veterinary medicine and livestock production, including roles in clinical analysis labs, species conservation centres and breeding facilities and as veterinary equipment specialists.

They can also be responsible for collecting and storing samples and sending them to the laboratory, implementing lab-based methods and supplementary diagnostic techniques, as well as setting standards for the accommodation and care of farm animals, pets, exotic creatures, wildlife and laboratory animals.
