Presentation

Graduates of the Higher Professional Technical course in Accounting and Management for Small and Medium Enterprises are professionals who plan, organise and carry out both financial and managerial accounting in the finance and administrative department. They oversee processes to ensure tax obligations are met, compile and refine financial and accounting data for further review and create detailed management reports. Their responsibilities extend to producing management reports, assisting senior management in meeting their commitments and liaising with financial entities. Moreover, they actively contribute to devising the broader management strategies of an SME.

Access conditions

Who can apply:

Candidates with a secondary education qualification or a legally equivalent qualification
Holders of a Technological Specialisation Diploma or a Higher Professional Technical Diploma
Holders of a higher education degree who wish to seek professional requalification

Candidates over the age of 23 who have passed the exams designed to assess their capacity for higher education attendance can also apply.

Special access contest

National Applicants or equivalent

International applicants (applicants who do not hold Portuguese citizenship, are not citizens of a EU member state and are not family members of Portuguese or citizens of a EU member state, have not lived in Portugal continuously for more than two years as of 1 January of the application year, are not beneficiaries of equal rights and duties status granted under an international treaty as of 1 January of the application year and who are not applying for higher education admission through special admissions and special entry routes).

All foreign applicants must request the equivalence of their secondary education qualifications from their home country from a Portuguese secondary school. The equivalence of your certificate to Portuguese secondary education is a mandatory requirement for the application.

Goals

Aims

Graduates of the CTeSP in Accounting and Management for Small and Medium Enterprises will have the expertise to independently oversee both financial and managerial accounting functions. They will manage tax-related protocols, collect and process financial and accounting details for in-depth assessment and prepare in-depth management reports. Such capabilities enable company leadership to uphold their commitments and engage proactively with financial establishments. Furthermore, these graduates also influence the overarching management strategies within an SME.

Graduate profile

Graduates of the CTeSP in Accounting and Management for SME will be able to:

Independently plan, organise and manage the financial accounting of an SME;
Independently plan, organise and handle the management accounting of an SME;
Prepare and present the main documents required for financial analysis of an SME;
Assist in the economic and financial management of an SME;
Ensure the necessary procedures for tax compliance;
Oversee the administrative management of human resources;
Prepare the company’s budgets in various areas: financial, investments, purchasing, production, sales;
Assist in the development of management policies in an SME;
Develop a business plan;
Oversee the preparation of required documentation for legal management obligations, including documentation needed for accounting and tax audits, following the guidelines of management bodies.

Professional outcomes

Graduates of the CTeSP in Accounting and Management for SME will be equipped to pursue a professional career as:

Middle or senior management in public and/or private companies in the administrative and financial areas;
Middle or senior management in financial institutions and insurance companies;
Advisor to the management/administration body of SMEs;
Engage in roles as an accountant, internal auditor and consultant.;
Handle roles associated with comprehensive human resource management.
