Início / Fisiologia do Exercício e Promoção da Saúde
Presentation
Physical activity and exercise are powerful and increasingly sought-after tools for health promotion, quality of life and longevity.
In this recent and emerging labour market, new professionals must have the training to respond to the resulting demands and challenges, be able to assess, analyse, plan and implement the best strategies associated with the exercise, in health and in illness, and coordinating and/or being part of multidisciplinary teams and enhancing their operation, whether in a sports, leisure or clinical context and based in clubs, local authorities, gyms, clinics, health centres or hospitals.
In order to achieve these aims with the maximum of quality, the School of Sport and Leisure and the School of Health, both part of the Polytechnic University of Viana do Castelo, joined forces, offering a comprehensive study cycle in these different, yet complementary, areas of knowledge, while learning mainly in a real context.
Therefore, students on this course will look at and learn all they need for optimal performance while working as an exercise physiologist in its most varied contexts and practical applications.

Goals
Aims
The Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology and Health Promotion has a study cycle that proposes:
The understanding of the complex dynamics of the physiological response to different physical exercise stimuli and all its variables will make it possible to develop, enhance and establish the benchmarks necessary for this work that is so vital, making it safe, effective and long-lasting.
Graduate profile
Specialist Exercise Physiologists will benefit from more advanced training and skills in the assessment, analysis, planning and implementation of the best strategies associated with exercise among apparently healthy groups of people and also clinical groups.
Professional outcomes
Specialist Exercise Physiologists work in a sports, leisure or clinical contexts, based in clubs, local authorities, gyms, clinics, health centres, hospitals and other institutions.
Continuing Studies
