However, one of the major obstacles is the need for employees to be absent from the workplace, for a certain fixed period of time. A possible solution in order to address the mentioned obstacle is the development of courses, based on e-learning platforms, allowing employees to carry out the training, in a timetable that is convenient for them and the company, and without the need to be physically absent from the company. Thus, the need for platforms that meet certain requirements such as storage, processing (online), management and publication of content is evident. These courses can be based on different resources, including the use of video-streaming which makes them more attractive. Another requirement also demanded by companies is the possibility of the platform in issuing a diploma of approval in the courses. Thus, it is necessary that the e-learning platforms have this feature available. This paper presents a comparative study between open-source elearning platforms, which support the use of video (Canvas LMS, Moodle, Mahara, Open edX). The comparative method was chosen, and the prototype of a course was prepared, through the establishment of a set of characteristics, with the objective of comparing the four platforms, supported by the RASE model (Resources, Activity, Support and Evaluation). Each platform was installed, configured and tested. The work developed offers an analysis model of e-learning platforms that support different media content, including video-streaming, which can be adopted for online training....
