Goals
Aims
The general aims of the Computer Networks and Systems Engineering
are divided into the following three components:
- Communication networks: a component that equips graduates with skills in planning, implementing, operating and managing communication networks. This component includes knowledge of IP networks, wireless networks, sensor networks, the Internet of Things (IoT), streaming, P2P, virtualisation, cloud networking, etc.
- Systems administration: a component that provides graduates with skills in the design, installation and administration of different types of services and the systems that support them. This component includes knowledge of hardware and software, operating systems, systems integration, intelligent systems, IoT devices, systems virtualisation, datacentres, cloud computing, etc.
- Network and Systems Security: a component that provides graduates with the skills to apply mechanisms and techniques for the security and privacy of information, within the means of communication and in the systems that carry and process it. This component includes knowledge about privacy, cybersecurity, cyber defence and cybercrime.
