The main aim of the Master’s Degree in Cybersecurity is advanced training of specialists in network, system and information security.
This master’s degree course has strategic partners including the Criminal Police (PJ), the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Porto Polytechnic Institute.
This advanced course allows students to:
– Learn advanced technical skills in areas such as prevention, detection and mitigation of cyberattacks.
– Learn management, testing, digital forensic analysis and compliance audit skills in networks, systems and information.
– Complement and provide specialised training in the Engineering study cycles, particularly Computer Engineering, Network and Computer Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering and Computer Networks, or other training in similar areas.

Access conditions
Access to the Master’s Degree Course in Cybersecurity is restricted to:
- Holders of a first cycle higher education (bachelor’s) degree in the area of Computer or Electrical Engineering, Information/Computer Science or similar areas such as IT, telecommunications, computer or communication networks, systems, information technology, electronics or multimedia.
- Holders of academic, scientific or professional qualifications that are recognised as attesting to their ability to take on this study cycle by the Scientific and Technical Committee.
- Holders of a foreign higher education degree granted following a first study cycle organised in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process by a State that is a signatory to this process or whose foreign higher education qualifications are recognised as meeting the aims of the bachelor’s degree course by the Scientific and Technical Committee.

Aims
To train specialists in the area of cybersecurity and provide them with the following knowledge, skills and competences:
- Expertise in hacking and security techniques applied to software, systems, networks and information.
- Familiarity with the different types of cyberattacks and ability to prevent and mitigate their impact.
- Familiarity with and ability to implement and assess secure mechanisms for the secure administration of systems and networks.
- Familiarity with and ability to verify compliance with regulations in the area of privacy and the protection of personal or sensitive data.
- Familiarity with the main advances in the area of networks, systems and information security and ability to devise innovative solutions in these areas.

Partnerships and internships
IPVC has been focusing on advanced training of specialists in the area of cybersecurity since 2016 and has an active cooperation agreement with the Public Prosecutor’s Office. As in previous years, the Master’s Degree in Cybersecurity is developed in association with members of the Criminal Police, the Porto Polytechnic Institute and the Leiria Polytechnic Institute.

STVGoDigital Mobilisation Project. The STVgoDIGITAL mobilisation project: Digitalisation of the value chain in the textile and clothing sector (STV) is a structuring project in the Textile Cluster: Technology and Fashion that is aimed at encompassing a number of R&D initiatives that are very collective in nature and have an inductive and demonstrative effect, with the central involvement of companies in the textile and clothing industries and other complementary sectors that boost the adoption of and transition to the new Industry 4.0 paradigm.
