Presentation
This Master’s Degree programme has the following aims:
- To provide qualifications for primary school teachers and for Portuguese and History and Geography of Portugal teachers in lower middle school, under the terms of Decree-Law No. 79/2014, of 14 May.
- To produce qualified professionals who have scientific and pedagogical autonomy, promoting educational practices appropriate to the context of primary school teaching and teaching Portuguese and History and Geography of Portugal in lower middle school.
- To provide qualifications for primary school teachers and for Portuguese and History and Geography teachers in lower middle school, under the terms of Decree-Law No. 79/2014, of 14 May, recruitment group. 100 – Primary School Education and 200 – Portuguese and Social Studies/History

Entry Requirements
In accordance with the entry conditions set out in Articles 17 and 18 of Decree-Law No. 79/2014, of 14 May, holders of a Bachelor’s Degree in Basic Education who demonstrate an oral and written command of the Portuguese language and mastery of the essential rules of logical and critical argumentation may apply to this course.
The assessment of the oral and written command of the Portuguese language and command of the essential rules of logical and critical argumentation is carried out through a test, to be scheduled by the institution, divided into two parts (written assessment test; oral assessment test – Interview), which aims to assess the candidate’s communication skills, as well as their command of the essential rules of logical and critical argumentation. The test consists of a series of oral and written comprehension and production tasks, namely: interpreting and understanding texts of different types; analysing and summarising statements; constructing logical, relevant and well-founded lines of argument; structuring texts/statements using discursive and linguistic strategies appropriate to arguing a point of view; using grammar appropriately and proficiently.

Aims
- To extend scientific, didactic and curricular knowledge related to primary school teaching and to teaching Portuguese, History and Geography in lower middle school.
- To consolidate planning, action, reflection and problem-solving skills in real-life educational situations and in organising educational environments that foster integrated and meaningful learning.
- To develop critical and reflective attitudes towards educational practices, designing and participating in context-specific research projects from a perspective that values lifelong professional training.
