Presentation
The course prepares professionals for the role of light, sound and image technicians, equipping them to set up, program and operate light, sound and image equipment, as well as create and process sounds and images and produce light effects to be incorporated into arts events, working with representatives from various cultural institutions.
Main Activities:
- Analysing the physical conditions (acoustics) and technical needs (riders) of a show, event or artistic/cultural project and select the materials and equipment to be used;
- Carrying out the assembly, dismantling and maintenance of light, sound and image equipment;
- Producing light effects according to the light design/plan and the characteristics of the venue;
- Programming the desired effects on the light table and recording the production;
- Preparing the work environment, based on the type of event, in order to identify the characteristics of capturing, recording, editing, mixing and amplifying the desired sound, as well as the required resources for its implementation;
- Tuning the sound equipment and setting levels and equalisation, resorting to the use of microphones for amplifying voices and scene sounds, mixing desks and recorders to create certain effects if necessary;
- Operating on digital and analogue mixers, as well as sequencers and audio editors;
- Creating and processing sounds and images to incorporate into cultural/arts events;
- Carrying out digital image/sound acquisition, editing and export processes and adapting the image to the architectural space.

Who can apply:
- Candidates with a secondary education qualification or a legally equivalent qualification
- Holders of a Technological Specialisation Diploma or a Higher Professional Technical Diploma
- Holders of a higher education degree who wish to seek professional requalification
Candidates over the age of 23 who have passed the exams designed to assess their capacity for higher education attendance can also apply.

Goals

Main Activities:

The Artistic Experiences project is organised on World Children’s Day each year by the Basic Education students at the School of Education (ESE), Polytechnic University of Viana do Castelo, with the assistance of all the second-year students from the AT CRESP, offering the children who visit the IPVC ESE that day the opportunity to participate in a variety of projects, including activities with light/sound/image.

- Magalhães, C. (2019). Taking part in the Transformation Schools project: Contributions towards social change through Education for Development and Global Citizenship in schools, with the participation of representatives from the Gonçalo da Silveira Foundation and the Beja, Santarém and Viana do Castelo Schools of Education (ESE).
